Away from the hustle and bustle of busy life
In an authentic Andalucian village, ideally placed for trips to Granada or to the Mediterranean coast.
For anyone looking for a quiet and relaxing holiday, this is the place. On the edge of the village, in an area of fantastic natural beauty, but in easy reach of the historic city of Granada and the Mediterranean beaches of Costa Tropical. Here you have it all, you are away from the hustle and bustle of the coast and Granada but just 30 minutes’ drive from both.
Leaving the main road you drive through the valley’s famous verdant landscape, whatever the time of year it is refreshingly beautiful, covered in orange and lemon groves, almonds, figs, pomegranates and the occasional beautiful big pine trees lining the roadside – It is simply gorgeous.
Once in the village, the house is in a narrow, traffic-free, side street, (there is parking nearby on the wider village streets). One enters directly into the living/dining room, the interior of the house is rustic and welcoming with wood-beamed ceilings, whitewashed walls and warm terracotta floors throughout.
Warm and welcoming
Every room takes full advantage of the wide sweeping views across the orchard covered valley
The living room is furnished with a comfortable sofa and armchairs arranged around a coffee table, a glass-fronted stove and TV make the setting complete for cooler evenings. From here double doors open onto the most wonderful terrace. It is easy to imagine the joy of spending many happy hours out here – there is a pool, not large but quite big enough for a cool-down and relax (or for the children to have hours of fun and play).
There is a dining table under a vine-covered trellis, there is a BBQ, there are parasols and all this blessed with the most spectacular views across the valley, the neighbouring villages, the snow-capped mountains of the Sierra Nevada and the vast blue sky.
Between the kitchen and the sitting room is the dining area consisting of a round dining table and chairs, seating 6 to 8, and a rustic cabinet displaying attractive white dinnerware. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you might need and a door opens onto the terrace, just beside the outdoor dining table, very handy for all your al-fresco meals.
Peace, quiet and views
A pretty terrace complete with a small pool is the perfect place to while away many a happy hour
Also with french doors opening directly on to the terrace, is the only downstairs bedroom, a neat double room decorated in neutral colours. Wake up in the morning and step out onto the terrace, ready for a dip in the pool and a delicious breakfast and orange juice from the juiciest local oranges.
A laundry room/pantry and a shower room complete the distribution of this floor.
Upstairs there are two bedrooms, a living room and a bathroom – the top of the stairs can be gated for child safety. The first bedroom is a comfortable twin with two lovely wrought iron beds and french windows onto a small balcony, looking over the patio and across the valley.
Next comes the second living room, this one has a sofa (that can be made into a double bed for more flexibility in sleeping arrangements), a rocking chair, a small TV, a small selection of books and games and french doors onto a small balcony and the same spectacular views.
The second upstairs bedroom is a spacious, bright twin bedroom with a window looking onto the pool and french doors onto a balcony that enjoys the same wonderful sweeping views of the valley and mountains. Imagine lying in bed in the morning contemplating the view and watching the colours change as the sun rises.
From the upstairs living room, steep stairs lead up to a little roof terrace, furnished with a table for two, sun loungers and a parasol – a perfect spot to enjoy a quiet retreat with a refreshing drink, a book or just to enjoy the tranquility and beauty all around you – and imagine the vast night skies, anyone wanting to do some stargazing, this is the place to be!
A delightfully rural setting, the valley is home to a number of tranquil, unspoiled, little village, all waiting to be explored. And thanks to its lush vegetation it is also home to many birds, it’s an ideal destination for nature lovers, walkers, birdwatchers and sun-worshipers.
The beautiful mountain terrain of the foothills of southern Sierra Nevada, Las Alpujarras, is another delightful day trip from here.
Andalucia is full of historic cities and charming villages; Granada, with the Alhambra, is practically on your doorstep, a wonderful city full of history, culture and countless delicious tapas bars and restaurants. If you want to explore further afield, Malaga, Jaen and Almeria are easy day trips away. Sevilla and Cordoba are further but still within visiting distance and they are well worth the time!

We spent a lovely, really lovely 5 days at this property in October 2019. The village is picturesque, with amazing views of the (snow covered) mountains from the house. The house is fantastic, everything you could ask for, warm and cozy in the cold weather, and I’m guessing cool and bright in the warmer summer. I’m looking forward to trying the pool next time I come. There are loads of amenities, games for the kids, books for the adults. Self catering was a breeze with the modern kitchen. I loved it! I definitely recommend it, and I will be back!
