Stunning farmhouse restoration

The owners knew that with a lot of love, this old country house could be turned into something truly special.

It is incredible that in the heart of Andalucia, not more than an hour from the swinging Costa del Sol and cosmopolitan Granada, and just a little more from the vibrant cities of Malaga, Sevilla and Cordoba—time has stood still. If you’ve ever wished to flip a switch and slow down the pace, you’re in luck. Here is a return to unhurried life.

Not so long ago this house was a simple, modest farmstead. It has now been fully restored, rebuilt and refurbished to make a beautiful, light and modern, spacious home while also managing to preserve some of its authentic, rural character.

On arrival you are welcomed by a majestic, century-old oak tree offering shade to the courtyard entrance. Go through the original double doors into the central patio and from here the various annexes and extensions of the house can be reached.

Spacious, open-plan living

The interior of this villa is airy and stylish with all the most up to date comforts you'd expect and more.

Straight ahead is the main living space of the house. The first area of this large room is a reading-TV-entertainment zone with comfy sofas on which to watch films or play computer games. Then move on into the house, through to the open-plan kitchen, dining and living-room.

The kitchen has not a trace of its rural past! It is a fully equipped, modern kitchen fitted out with all the mod cons that one would expect in a house of this quality standard. This includes a large walk-in larder with a second freezer, in case you wish to stock up on extra ice for those long summer drinks on the terrace.

Beside the kitchen area is a long glass dining table, with seating for 8. And after dinner take a soft seat in the lounge area in front of the glass fronted fireplace.
Just off the kitchen, there is a WC and laundry room that also has direct access from the pool area.

Sleep sweetly

Bedrooms in this villa are so inviting! Some with stunning views across the countryside.

The two downstairs bedrooms can be reached from the living room. First, is the twin room, with en suite shower room. Then two steps down is an attractive, spacious double room with an en suite bathroom and a little private terrace with wonderful views. This room has direct access to the central patio making these interconnecting rooms ideal for a family with young children. Alternatively, by closing the connecting door, they become two completely private bedrooms, each with their own bathroom facilities.

From the living area stairs lead up to the master bedroom. This is a large, light-filled room with high ceilings and an enormous king-sized bed. The luxurious en suite bathroom has a walk-in shower, a freestanding bath also with a shower, and the most spectacular views. Every bedroom in this villa is an absolute delight—decorated in an uncluttered style, they are smart and crisp but at the same time comfortable and welcoming.

Memories of past rural times

The renovation has incorporated various interesting features of the original farmhouse.

PG16_07

On one side of the master bedroom, there is a little terrace to the back of the house which looks out to the much-admired ‘era’ a timeworn threshing field. On the other side of the room is a roof terrace complete with sun-loungers and shade. This is a wonderful spot from which to watch the sunset, the night skies or just to relax at any time—day or night. From here a small stairway takes you down to the pool area.

And back to the central patio, a metal stair and walkway lead up to what was once the original farmhouse. This part of the villa now houses two charming bedrooms both with an authentic, rural feel.

To the left is one of the double bedrooms—it has access to the lovely ‘era’. The bedrooms in this wing of the house share a large shower room, which also enjoys spectacular views.

The pool terrace is holiday bliss!

The pool terrace is truly amazing. With its poolside bar and chill out zone, it's holiday heaven.

PG16_08

The other bedroom in the original farmhouse wing is a long room with a vaulted ceiling and a generous king-size bed. This room has double balcony doors which look out onto the vast sweeping landscape, hills of olives as far as the eye can see.

Back to the kitchen and out through the double glass doors to the wonderful pool terrace. Here your holiday dreams will come true – this is rural holiday bliss … Marvel at the big inviting pool, the enormous open space around you and the choice of so many fantastic spots in which to relax.

There are two separate dining areas, one is under the veranda overlooking the pool terrace – ideal for breakfast or al fresco lunches out of the strong, midday sun. The second dining area is on the far side of the pool under a cane-covered canopy, next to the impressive outdoor kitchen barbecue area.

Chill out or work out

This villa comes complete with its own gymnasium which doubles as a games room.

You’ll surely be spending most of your time outside, enjoying the pool, sunshine and wonderful views. But if you want a change from the sun lounger or playing in the water and would like to relax in comfort, why not retire to the ‘chill-out’ area? This corner on the pool terrace has alluring Moroccan-style divans furnished with deep blue cushions and pillows in abundance. A small water fountain at the centre completes the exotic atmosphere.

And if you have over-relaxed and feel that you need a workout, there is a wonderful gym room for you to use. Newly equipped with an exercise bike, rowing machine and weights there’s no excuse not to indulge in that extra tapas. If something less strenuous is in order, you can play a game of pool instead.

All in all, this the perfect villa for a Spanish countryside retreat. You have the peace and calm of rural Andalucia while enjoying all the modern comforts of a quality home.
