In this glorious setting . . .
. . . sits one of the cosiest, welcoming little country homes you could wish for.
Here, in the shade of a majestic, centuries-old oak tree, looking out over an ocean of olive groves – the earth so rich in colours, ranging from deep ochre to golden yellow, in the distance the snow-capped peaks of Sierra Nevada. In this glorious setting sits one of the cosiest, most welcoming little country homes you could wish for.
Little remains of the old country cottage, bought in the late 1990s by a Spanish/English family, the house was fully renovated into a modern two bedroom home.
Accessed via an earth driveway, parking at the side of the house, you walk along the wide front terrace, in the shade of the old oak tree, to the front door.
For such a pool, such a setting...
A lovely, south-facing sun trap, views extending far and wide.
The terrace, with its ornate wrought iron railing, runs along the length of the house and beyond to an outlook with a second seating area around a large round table and uninterrupted views – and a parasol in case you want some shade – In the afternoon there always seems to be a lovely, calming breeze here.
The house is built into the hillside, its facade covered in vine leaves, large flower pots of rosemary, lavender, parsley and more adorn the terrace. To both sides of the house the terraced gardens, planted with almond, fig, pomegranate, lavender, rosemary, lilies, reach up to the pool. Set on its own sundeck area behind and above the house, this is quite a pool and the setting is outstanding!
Secluded, peaceful, and relaxing
An ideal place to slow down and luxuriate.
From the pool area, you have unequaled views over the rooftop, looking out across this wonderful landscape you might feel as if you are on top of the world! You have shade from two large parasols, you have table and chairs, you have loungers and you have the bluest, clearest pool all to yourselves – without another soul in sight. There are other houses in the neighbourhood but none of them is within view of the pool, or any other part of this little secret paradise.
One enters the house directly into the downstairs living area, one long room, to the right a narrow counter divides the kitchen area from the rest of the room. The kitchen is a small open plan kitchen, but very well equipped with all you need to prepare and enjoy your delicious meals. And it comes complete with a very well stocked larder – a notice reads: Please help yourself and please replace anything that runs out….So no need to worry about arriving to an empty kitchen!
Rustic charm and good facilities
Here you will feel instantly at home.
The rest of the room is furnished with a small dining table for four, an open fireplace, a large TV and a very comfy L shaped sofa with plenty of room for the whole family to enjoy a movie on a lazy afternoon. This room is welcoming and light, with large, almost panoramic, windows looking out over the front terrace, through the branches of the old oak tree to the landscape beyond. Here you will feel instantly at home.
A bathroom with a walk in shower completes the distribution of the ground floor.
A real home away from home
In a true rural Andalucian setting.
The thick walls and the double glazed windows keep the house cool in summer and warm in winter. To make sure you have restful nights in the heat of summer, there are air-conditioning units in both the bedrooms. For the colder winter months there’s central heating as well as the lovely open fireplace in the living room – There is a supply of wood in the garage.
The table on the front terrace, under the shade of the glorious evergreen oak, is where you more than likely will be enjoying most of your al fresco meals, snacks, a sundowner or two or simply enjoying your quality holiday time daydreaming, reading a booking or talking with the family….
A perfect location for days out
Have fun exploring the historic cities and countryside all around.
From the kitchen an open stairway leads upstairs, it has a handrail on the wall but the edge is unprotected so not ideal for very small children. From a small landing the doors open to the two bedrooms and the upstairs bathroom. The first bedroom is a spacious double with the beautiful three-quarter length windows to the side and in front of the bed, you can lie in bed and watch the sunrise listening to the birdsong and the sound of nature all around you. This room also includes a small dressing room with plenty of wardrobe space.
The second bedroom is a twin room. Both rooms are light and spacious, both have beamed ceilings, and both make the most of the wonderful vistas. Both rooms can be prepared either as two 90cm singles or one king size 180cm double (seamlessly connected). Please let us know your sleeping requirements and the beds will be made up accordingly for your arrival.
Throughout the house, furnishing is of good quality and every consideration has been taken to make this an ideal holiday home away from home.
There are mosquito nets on all the windows, TV, wifi, air conditioning, lovely tableware and ceramics, lush towels and linen. There is also an electric grill for outside eating through the summer months when barbecues are banned due to strict fire restrictions (May to October).….All in a true rural Andalucian setting.
Ermita Nueva is a small rural hamlet famous for, and surrounded by, its delicious olives. A five to ten-minute walk through the olive groves brings you to the village. It boasts a small, well stocked, supermarket, two bars and a restaurant. Still very much an agricultural area, the lifestyle here remains unhurried, you will see few tourists and will experience authentic Andalucia. This is a perfect place to de-stress, slow down, unwind and enjoy the relaxed pace for your holiday. But you are not too far away for a day trip out to the wonderful cities of Granada (35 minutes), Cordoba (2 hours) and many smaller, but just as interesting, historic towns that are dotted around this part of Andalucia.
