Such a convenient location

If you're going to have a village on your doorstep, you'd ask for pretty Gaucín. It has lots of choice for eating out, small shops and a friendly feel.

This pretty villa has the attraction of being in a superb location – close enough to walk to the picturesque town of Gaucin – while being secluded in its own walled garden.

Situated high inland, half an hour’s drive from the coast, there are views to the sea and Gibraltar.

Just add a sparkling pool and brick-built barbecue, and you’re guaranteed a relaxing and fun time, basking in the sun with friends and family. The owners of this house are the delightful Manuel and Maria who enjoy welcoming guests to their part of Spain.

Although the villa is accessed by the coast road to Gaucin (making the house easy to find), it is set back from the road.

The entrance is gated and has a gravel drive with space for three cars to park. Gaucín town, for groceries and amenities, is 1 minutes’ drive away.

Comfortable all year round

The house is well prepared for cooler months as well as summer holidays.


The entrance of the house opens up to a light-filled living room with two sofas (two three-seaters), armchairs and pouffe arranged around a coffee table.

The woodburner sits in the chimney breast, an ancient honey press is an added character feature.

The TV and wifi are more modern facilities of course! Horses are the decorative theme throughout as the owners love them and keep their own.

The house is available all year round. You’ll be kept warm in winter as the property has gas central heating as well as the Hergom woodburner in the living room for cosy nights in.

Although there is no air conditioning, the ceilings are high and portable fans are provided to keep you cool in summer.

Going up the stairs to the bedrooms, is a little corner snug with a round table and two armchairs, somewhere quiet for peaceful reading or doing the crossword.

Spacious inside, top and bottom

With five bedrooms and large communal areas, there is plenty of room for everyone.

Leading on from the living area is a bright and airy kitchen, done out in the Spanish style. It is well equipped with lots of crockery, utensils and pans hanging within reach.

It comes with everything you’d expect: fridge freezer, 4-ring electric hob and oven, microwave, dishwasher, double sink.

Behind the kitchen is a convenient cloakroom with wc and basin, and a laundry/utility room housing the washing machine, a sink and ironing facilities.

The house sleeps ten plus one (a sofa-bed is available which would be suitable for a child): two twin bedded rooms and three double bedded rooms.

One of the doubles is on the ground floor (bedroom 1) and has en suite bathroom facilities with a walk-in shower, wc and basin. The double bedded room on the first floor (bedroom 2) is actually more of a suite, with the sofa-bed previously mentioned, TV and en suite bathroom.

This spacious bedroom also has a furnished balcony terrace.


Upstairs to bed

All the upstairs bedrooms have balconies with views.


Bedroom 3 (shown here) has a traditional brass bedstead and built-in wardrobe. The bed, although a double, may be a little small for two large adults but would be ideal for two older children. The Juliet balcony has views to Gibraltar.

Bedroom 4 is a twin bedded room, overlooking the pool and garden. Like bedroom 2, it also has built-in wardrobes and balcony views to the sea.

Bedroom 5 is a twin bedded room with built-in wardrobes and a balcony terrace overlooking the pool. The hillside slopes up behind this side of the house and has an avocado tree growing alongside – you can pick its fruit straight from the bedroom balcony!

Bedrooms 3, 4 and 5 share the bathroom on this floor.

The bathroom has a basin, wc, bidet, bath with a shower over.

All the bedrooms have portable fans.

Your secret garden

This villa has a very private garden where you can while away the lazy days. If you can tear yourself away from the pool, there is plenty to see and do round and about.

The house itself is very attractive, but the garden is even better. High walled on three sides, with the fourth side being the hillside, this detached property (with no neighbours nearby) is very private and peaceful.

The garden has a lawn, comfy for bare feet to play on, and shade from mature shrubs and trees.

The garden has the benefit of a brick-built barbecue with food prep area, and a dining table seating eight all close to the pool.

Whole days can be spent relaxing in the garden, breaking for a barbecue lunch and then sleeping it off on a sunlounger by the swimming pool.

Of course, a change of scene may be needed, you can choose a day at the beach – the sandy beach of Playa de Sabinillas is only 30 mins’ drive away or cultural Ronda is a 40 minute drive inland.

Gaucín itself is well worth a visit, for its ruined Moorish castle, flowery old streets and tapas bars.

 Property Information

Bookings at this property usually run from Saturday to Saturday but please ask about flexibility outside of high season.

The pool is open all year but as it is not heated the swimming pool season is from late April to early October.

Please, no smoking in the house.

 Services Information

Additional maid/babysitting, horse riding and cooking service are available on request in advance, paid locally.

During the colder months there is a heating supplement of 100 euros per week payable locally on arrival. A small amount of firewood is provided by the owner on arrival but more can be bought locally for the duration of your stay.

Linen is changed once a week.

A light mid stay cleaning is included in bookings of 2 weeks or longer.
