This is a family home designed with maximum fun in mind. With a well equipped games room, a pool side bar and gated pool access, this villa has something for everyone.

At a glance: bedrooms: 5, sleeping: 6 or 10 || Distance: 5 km from town

Only a stone's throw away from Gaucin

If you can tear yourself away from this lovely villa, a pretty mountain village is on your doorstep.

This spacious family home is nothing short of amazing, both for its facilities and countryside location.

The house belongs to a delightful Spanish family who spend weekends here with their own young children. The owners built the house in 2004 to their own specifications, focusing on family fun for both indoors and outside. Everything is of exceptionally high standard, furnished with good taste and style.

The house is an easy drive from Gaucín, a pretty mountain village, only 5 kms away.

It’s hard to know where to start … let’s begin with the fabulous swimming pool. The huge pool is 14 m x 7 m and has three shallow steps into the water.

The terrace looks out to magnificent views down the Genil valley to Gibraltar and beyond, sun beds are arranged on one side and on the other is a magnificent tree offering shade to a table and chairs.

Barbecues and music around the most amazing pool

Bring the lounge outside ... what a way to spend your holiday!

The pool terrace is an area designed for al fresco entertainment and the pool itself has night lighting—enjoyment from the start of the day to the very end.

An open summer house with a comfy sofa, chairs and tv looks out onto the water, you can keep an eye on what’s going on in the pool while relaxing in the shade with a cold drink.

A convenient bathroom with shower, wc and basin is behind the bar so you needn’t go inside all day.

To one side is a covered bar with complete kitchen facilities comprising a 5-ring gas hob and hotplate, electric oven, sink, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. Here you’ll find cutlery, crockery and a big charcoal barbecue.

Behind the bar is an iPod docking station, so you can listen to your favourite music while you relax or party. What could be more fun than barbecue and beers by the pool!

Al fresco dining and interior comfort

This villa has more than one dining terrace for eating under the stars on a warm Spanish evening.

The house opens by automatic electric gates to the courtyard at the front of the house—there is enough space to park four or five cars on the property.

The entrance courtyard is shaded by exotic palm trees and is furnished for dining. A Weber charcoal barbecue is provided, although there is direct access to the kitchen making it easy to bring food out.

You enter the house into the living room which in turn goes to a dining space for six. The living room has a flatscreen TV, DVD, music system and Wifi internet.

Although the living room has an open fire, there is central heating throughout for renting in winter. The dining room has a temperature controlled wine store and if you are interested in having wine during your stay, a pack of selected wines can be made available on request.

The kitchen has a range-style cooker and is well equipped with all the cooking utensils you need. A utility room houses a washing machine, two fridges and the ironing facilities.

Plenty of bedrooms for everyone

This villa is ideal for family and friends - with a separate guest annex, there's space for everyone.

Still on the ground floor, there is another dining space (seating eight), on the beautiful veranda which runs along the length of the house.

The veranda is smothered with jasmine and bougainvillea and looks out onto a lawn and olive trees—the whole picture is as pretty as can be. As well as the dining table, on the veranda are armchairs and a sofa to retire to after dinner.

The veranda is fenced in as a safety feature so children cannot access the swimming pool unsupervised.

Turning to sleeping arrangements … the house sleeps either six, or ten. Three bedrooms are in the main house while two double bedrooms are in a separate guest annex.

The three bedrooms in the main house comprise two doubles on the ground floor and one bedroom on the first floor. All bedrooms except one have flatscreen TVs and DVD facilities.

A games annex completes the entertainment

Suitable for teens to slope off to, this den has billiards, darts and movies.

The ground floor bedrooms are: (1) Master bedroom with king-sized double bed, flatscreen TV and en suite bathroom (walk-in shower, wc, basin) and (2) Double, not en suite but a bathroom with bathtub and shower over, wc and basin, is opposite.

The first floor bedroom (3) is a double with an en suite bathroom.

The separate guest annex overlooks the swimming pool and houses two super-king sized bedded rooms. Each of these bedrooms (4) and (5) has en suite bathrooms with walk-in shower, wc and basin). Access to the guest annex is by steps. All the bedrooms except (2) have air conditioning. Bedroom (1) also has ceiling fans.

Another separate annex is a games room complete with bathroom, a bar, and wood burner for winter warmth. The entertainment provided is a billiard table, darts and large, flatscreen tv with DVD player. The space is perfect for teens to spend a film night.

Convenient location for exploring

This villa has so many choices for seeing more of Andalucia: hiking, horse riding, beach and sightseeing.

The location of the villa couldn’t be better, for those who want excursions close by or further afield. The surrounding countryside is wonderful for walking with plenty of shade for summer hikes. The variety of woodlands offer habitat for many bird species and as this region is so close to the migratory route of birds from Africa, it’s a birdwatcher’s dream. Horse riding treks are available for all levels and ages (based in Casares 10 kms away), mountain biking trails and water sports on the coast.

A gentle day at the beach is only 30 minutes’ drive away and a further ten minutes more you’ll come to the wilder Atlantic coast.

The Mediterranean sea offers the classic beach experience, sunbathing and ice creams, waterparks and seafood.

The famous town of Ronda is 40 minutes’ drive inland, across some dramatic, rock strewn landscapes. The impressive bridge spanning the old and new town across the Tajo Gorge lives up to any picture postcard. History, culture, bullring and bandit-legends all come together at Ronda—inspiration for Hemingway and final resting place for Orson Welles.

More about this region

Ronda and Mountains

Ronda and its surrounding landscape has all that is symbolic of Andalucia—the land of passion, literary inspiration, bullfighting and romantic bandit stories. Its famous Puente Nuevo bridge, spanning El Tajo gorge, is unforgettable. Ronda is a magnificent city with a rich culture and history but this region also offers beautiful countryside, picturesque white villages like Gaucín, and the sea which is near enough for a day at the beach.
