Through olive groves and almond trees

This country house is conveniently located in the hamlet of Las Barreras, near Órgiva. It’s a real treat, full of personality and interest.

At a glance: bedrooms: 7, sleeping: 12 (maximum number of adults 8) || Distance: 2 km from town

Surprises at every turn

This renovated farmhouse has lots of private corners and is full of surprising twists and turns.

The situation of this villa is perfect for a large family or group of friends who would like to rest and relax in authentic Spanish surroundings, while having the convenience of a town close to hand.

The drive to the villa is through olive groves which ends at a long entrance drive at the front of the house. There is room for 5-6 cars to park.

The house is mainly built on ground level, but there is one bedroom on a first floor. A bedroom has been adapted for a wheelchair, there is a ramp for access into the house and to the pool.

The courtyard is nicely shaded and here you’ll find six bicycle stands for those who wish to hire bikes locally. A 45 sqm wooden games/yoga house is located separately; it has a full-size table tennis table and double sofa. Kids and adults alike will love it.

There is so much to this villa, it’s full of wonderful surprises.

Full of thoughtful touches

The whole villa is neat and well maintained - guests’ comfort is the number one priority.

Bedroom (1) ‘Jasmine’ is a spacious double bedroom with elegant décor. This bedroom has a useful single bed which can be moved out if necessary (the single bed is perhaps suitable for a child to sleep in if they want to share the bedroom with their parents).

The en suite bathroom contains a walk-in shower, WC, pedestal wash basin, heated towel rail and mirror with light.

Bedroom (2) ‘Almond’ is a double with an en suite bathroom.

The en suite bathroom for Almond has lovely encaustic coloured floor tiles, handbasin and WC, a walk-in shower and heated towel rail.

This bedroom gives direct access to a smaller bedroom (‘Fig’) which can accommodate up to two young children in a toddler’s bed and single bed (it is a bit of a tight fit but perfectly adequate, if required – please ask).

The décor throughout is bright and stylish

Chestnut ceiling beams and whitewashed walls feature in this villa, used to good effect with authentic rustic flair.

The sitting room salon is a long room with an airy high wood-beamed ceiling. The salon also opens by the front door to the entrance courtyard.

At the end of the salon is a dining table for ten, with an extension table to increase numbers.

From the salon, you can either go through to the kitchen or to a sun-filled atrium where you can while away a lazy day reading the many books this house has to offer.

The atrium has the feel of a conservatory as the blue sky overhead can be seen through its glass ceiling.

This atrium leads to two double bedrooms, or outside to the garden, terraces and swimming pool.

The interior of this villa is artistically decorated with interesting ceramics and pictures. Colour has been used imaginatively to create a stylish but very relaxing place to spend time.

Like a real country cottage

The Oranges bedroom has its own little porch where you can sit out and enjoy the evening.

The dining area leads directly into the super smart kitchen. Everything is of quality and all the appliances that you’d expect are here: SMEG 5-ring gas hob, oven, fridge/freezer, twin sinks, Bosch dishwasher, microwave to name a few.

A utility room leads off from the kitchen and houses the washing machine plus a WC, hand basin and walk-in shower.

Bedroom (3) is the Orange bedroom and can be accessed from the outside or from the atrium via a twin bedroom (4) ‘Lemon’. The Orange bedroom leads directly to the outside, facing the end of the driveway. It has its own little porch with cottage style flowers, honeysuckle and creepers, around the door.

The Lemon room would be ideally suited for two children sharing, or as a single room for one adult.

Bedrooms (3) and (4) share a bathroom which is located between them. This bathroom has a bath with shower over, WC, heated towel rail

Wonderful wisteria

A magnificent wisteria climber features as part of the lounge terrace and bedroom canopy.

Bedroom (5) is called ‘Olive’ and is on the ground floor

Olive is wheelchair accessible – it has a wide door and its en suite bathroom is a wet room. The wet room comprises a wide shower with grab-bar (shower chair available) WC with grab-bar, basin and heated towel rail.

Olive leads directly to the garden and then across the dining terrace, which has a concrete ramp, to the main house. A ramp has also been provided for access to the swimming pool terrace.

Bedroom (6) ‘Wisteria’ is the only bedroom up a flight of stairs. Like (5), Wisteria has air-conditioning, a ceiling fan, central heating and is similarly decorated in white with charming tiles on one wall. This bedroom is a light-filled room, pleasant and private having its own balcony terrace with views of the Sierra Lújar.

Bedroom (6) has an en suite bathroom with a walk in shower.

Fabulous outside areas

The garden and grounds are a haven of peace. Succulents and Mediterranean plants play a large part in the pretty scene.

The gardens are beautifully kept and styled in a relaxed way, yuccas and geraniums add bright splashes of red and green while lavender and oleanders add fragrance and colour. Mature olive trees rustle in the breeze.

On the terrace is a lounge area, shaded by wisteria and furnished with five armchairs and a double sofa all arranged around a coffee table. A brick built barbecue is on the wall behind the lounge area, there is a large table for al fresco dining. You can watch all the action going on in the pool from this dining/lounge terrace.

A lawned area overlooks the gated pool terrace where there are welcoming, comfortable, sunbeds for everyone. Time to relax again! You will be pleased to find plenty of space and shade. The pool is superb, twinkling in the sun with a cover close to hand, to keep the warmth in overnight.

Two steps down from the dining terrace is a path to another pergola with a smaller patio table, chairs and potted plants. There is also a cosy little wisteria bower suitable for two people to sit in private.
