More than meets the eye

Sometimes things are not what they seem . . .


. . . And that could be said of this charming townhouse. From the outside it looks neat and sweet, with a tidy exterior but it gives no clue as to how the interior opens up, like a nice surprise, to be a good-sized holiday home.

The house looks towards the Mediterranean and is situated at the top of the white village of Ojén. Being up high, there are superb views of the mountains and the coast of Marbella, 10 minutes away. On clear mornings Africa can be seen from its balcony terraces.

The property is laid out over three floors. On the upper floor are two bedrooms and a TV/living room (with a sofa-bed so it can be converted into a bedroom) and two bathrooms.

Downstairs, there are two terraces and private pool with a large and bright living room and dining room connected to a cosy kitchen.

A neat and smart townhouse

This property is ideal for families who want to stay in a real Spanish town, but with a holiday beach nearby.


You enter from the quiet residential street into an entrance hall and it’s on this floor that you find the bedrooms.

The main double bedroom has its own private sun terrace which has been planted with lavender. This stylish bedroom has a dressing room and an en suite bathroom.

The bathroom comprises a walk-in shower, twin washbasins (in the authentic Andaluz bowl style), WC and a corner bathtub with mixer shower taps.

The second double bedroom has built in wardrobes, two bedside tables with lamps and blinds to keep out the sun. This bedroom has a Juliet balcony which looks out to what we consider to be the only negative aspect of this otherwise very attractive holiday home — an unfinished apartment in the street opposite. There is no work being done on the apartment so there is no noise or disturbance from it.

Overall, we feel that this townhouse is so nicely done out and in such a good location, that the view from this bedroom should not detract from the enjoyment of your stay.

Chill out and relax

The house has plenty of scope for keeping you entertained and rested.

To the left of the entrance hall is a TV/living room which has a sofa that converts to a double bed. This room would be suitable as a chill out room for children or a bedroom for teenagers. There are built in wardrobes for clothes storage, the wifi is housed here and it has a window that opens to the street. Next door is a convenient bathroom.

The bathroom has a bath tub with shower mixer taps, WC, washbasin and bidet. The décor style is traditionally Spanish and all is well lit and bright.

On this floor is a useful laundry room which leads to an outside terrace for drying clothes. A washing machine and a stone utility sink are provided.

The entrance hall has a large wall map showing hiking trails round and about. If you like walking, then this house is a good base from which to explore the Sierra de las Nieves. This area of natural beauty is currently in the process of being designated a National Park and offers many outdoor activities eg horse riding and climbing. But back to the house . . .


Look out to the sea

The sun terrace has views to the fabulous Sierra de las Nieves mountains, as well as the working town of Ojén itself, down below.


The other rooms of this house are a floor below the bedrooms, down a flight of 22 stairs.

Here you’ll find the kitchen, the dining area and the spacious living room which leads out to the large sun terrace. Also on this floor, off the salon, is a handy cloakroom with WC and washbasin.

The kitchen is bright and clean and well kitted out with lots of cooking equipment. All the pans and utensils are kept in a walk-in pantry along with some basic dry goods. The appliances include an electric oven and 3-ring induction hob, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. A dining table seating four is in the kitchen.

The living room is a picture of calm and taste. It is a place to rest and relax with a good book or, in winter, enjoy the real fire. There are two armchairs and a three-seater sofa as well as a dining table, for six, to the side.

Your own private pool

A townhouse with a splashpool! Big enough for a refreshing dip and fun for children to play in, the pool will keep everyone happy.


It’s not often that a townhouse has its own pool, but this one does. The pool is gated for safety and is accessed down 17 stairs from the sun terrace.

The pool has its own terrace with sun beds so you can relax by the water all day, topping up your tan. Pool accessories are available for children to play with.

Back up the stairs to the sun terrace (which has direct access by French windows to the living room), this is a spot you’ll want to enjoy throughout your holiday. The views to the sea and mountains are wonderful and the terrace itself is furnished with a very comfortable sofa and chairs arranged around a coffee table.

An added bonus is a built-in barbecue with a food preparation area and sink. Close by is a round dining table and chairs for four to enjoy al fresco meals hot off the barbecue.

The terrace has lots of plants in flowerpots adding greenery and softness to the whole scene.

Discover wonderful Ojén

Although Marbella is within easy reach of pretty Ojén, this authentic village has so much to offer.

Ojén is a beautiful white village on the Costa del Sol, inland from the coast, nestled in the mountains overlooking the sea. The location of this village is perfect for those who like to enjoy a quiet stroll as well as for those who like an all day hike in unspoilt, wooded landscapes. Neither activity is complete without sampling Ojén’s famous churros for breakfast. We have it on good authority that they are the crispiest, fluffiest churros to be had in Andalucía! Ojén is a quiet and charming Spanish town, it’s a refreshing contrast with nearby Marbella, the ‘capital’ of the Costa del Sol with its eclectic cuisine and glamorous leisure facilities.

Marbella has a subtropical Mediterranean climate. Due to its geography—with the Sierra Blanca protecting it from north winds and temperate sea water in its many coves acting as ‘blanket’—this region enjoys a microclimate with an average annual temperature of 18°c. The Costa del Sol is an idyllic destination for vacations, regardless of the time of year. If you love the long, hot summers offered by the south of Spain or if you prefer to take a break during winter, Marbella is the ideal place to escape the cold.
