Orange blossom in the Lecrín Valley
The mild climate in this valley made it the source of citrus fruit for the medieval kingdom of Granada. Oranges and lemons are still grown today and the scent of their blossom fills the air.

Such peaceful surroundings, birdsong is the only sound
The villa is set in lush countryside, a habitat for many species of flowers, butterflies and songbirds.

This villa is a beautiful house, recently renovated to be in keeping with its Andalucian surroundings. To get to the house you drive through the little village of Melegís, past vegetable gardens ‘huertos’, orange groves and over a bubbling stream.
Suddenly you arrive at the house, so pretty with all its roses, lavender and colourful flowers. There is room for parking three cars in the shaded carport area close to the villa, next to an organic huerto. The gardener here grows corn, peas, beans, lettuce and cucumbers which are offered to guests during their stay.
The house is set in 10,000 m2 of private land and has its own orchard of fruit trees: apples, oranges, lemons, apricots, avocados and grapes all available for guests to pick when in season. The entrance gates of the house open to an expansive courtyard which carries on through to the pool terrace and the rear of the property.
Fantastic family-sized pool!
The swimming pool in this villa is a good size. What's more it's gated, so little ones are kept out and safe.

The swimming pool (gated for safety) and pool terrace are shaded by orange trees. You can eat breakfast or have a (gas) barbecue on the furnished veranda looking out to the pool and views of the countryside.
From here you enter the house directly into the impressively large kitchen which modern, white and bright and has all the conveniences you’d expect: hob and oven, fridge freezer, dishwasher and microwave. There is also a washing machine and tumble dryer. The kitchen leads to the living room, the foot of the stairs to the first floor and the stairs to the lower ground floor.
The house sleeps 6 to 8 altogether. There is one double and one twin bedroom on the first floor, one twin bedroom on the ground floor and one double on the lower floor. Although the house does not have air conditioning, there are ceiling fans/portable fans available.
Decorated with thought and style
The interior decor is tasteful and new. Each bedroom has a different colour theme, which is set off nicely against the white walls.

There is a fourth double bedroom on the lower ground floor which is the extra optional room. A bathroom with walk-in shower is next door to this bedroom.
All the bedrooms are beautifully decorated – white – but with each having its own colour accent. The ground floor twin bedroom has an en suite bathroom with walk-in shower. The two upstairs bedrooms share a bathroom which is located between them.
The living room is very comfortable and has been decorated with thought and flair. Leather sofas are arranged around a coffee table and focus on a glass-fronted wood burner and a TV.
The house has WiFi internet. At one end of the living room is a dining table which seats six. The living room leads out to a covered patio which is equipped with dining table and chairs for outside meals.
The Valley of Happiness
The villa is close to the authentic little town of Melegís, one of the many villages around the valley. The city of Granada and the beaches of Salobreña are only half an hour's drive away.
The Lecrín Valley is located halfway between the Costa Tropical and Granada.
The name Lecrín is said to have come from the arabic for ‘happy’ and certainly the Moorish influence from those past times can be seen today — white villages with narrow streets and orange blossom everywhere. Watered by melting snow, this fertile valley supplied oranges and lemons to the medieval kingdom of Granada and still provides this region with fruit in abundance.
Little white villages are dotted around the Lake of Beznar, a large reservoir of sparkling mountain water, surrounded by pine trees.
The view of the Sierra Nevada mountain range is always in sight, impressive and majestic. From late autumn through to springtime its peaks twinkle with snow under a vivid blue sky.
Skiing is available in Sierra Nevada ski resort (1 hour’s drive away) with over 100 pistes, it’s the sunniest ski resort in Europe. Only 30 minutes’ drive away to the north is Granada city with its famed Alhambra palace. There are so many other attractions in Granada too: the cathedral, churches and convents, flamenco in the caves of Sacromonte, the Moorish Albaicín, and last but not least, excellent restaurants and tapas bars. To the south of this villa, half an hour down the motorway, is charming Salobreña beach.

More about this region
Lecrín Valley
This region is halfway between Granada city and Las Alpujarras—a superb location for Granada sightseeing, skiing and the beach combined with a pleasant semi-tropical climate. The Lecrín Valley played an important part in the Moorish kingdom of Granada and this region is rich with historical references to it. Most of the villages of the Lecrín Valley are on the banks of the Béznar Lake and there are many clearly marked hiking trails incorporating these little towns en route.
