A lovingly restored village house
Pretty as a postcard, in the jewel of La Sierra de Aracena.
At a glance: bedrooms: 3, sleeping: 6 plus 2 children || Walk to town: 1 minute
In the heart of Sierra de Aracena Natural Park
This home from home is on the edge of Alájar town, looking out to the countryside of the Sierra de Aracena.

If you want to experience authentic Andalucia this might be just the place for you.
This lovely old, traditional village house has been sympathetically restored, refurbished and updated by its English owners. Without losing its original character, maintaining all the essence and charm of yesteryear – the house is a real lived-in home.
The house is situated on the edge of the interesting town of Alájar, on one side there is a quiet street, on the other the open countryside.
You are in the heart of Sierra de Aracena Natural Park and Picos de Aroche – hills covered in forests of oak, cork oak, and chestnut. This little-known region has a landscape of extraordinary beauty and with all the many trails on offer, is ideal for guests who like walking and nature.
Well laid out, taking in four floors, the old house rambles up and down. From street level you enter into the entrance hall/living room. This is the centre of the house, from where stairs lead to the floors above and down to the lower floor.
An unknown corner of Andalucia
Very few holidaymakers know about this green and serene land. This villa offers a chance to experience its secret magic.
The master bedroom and en suite bathroom are reached through big double doors from the entrance hall. This bedroom opens onto a private, cosy terrace with steps down to the pool area. From the entrance hall, a few more steps down lead to a second double bedroom.
Six steps up from the entrance hall is the ‘snug’ living room, with a glass fronted stove and leather sofas it really is ‘snuggly’ and cosy for winter afternoons. The main bathroom is also on this floor.
A few more steps lead up to a large loft bedroom with two double beds. This is a perfect room for older children. The room has a sloping, wooden beamed ceiling and light floods in from two sky-lights.
From the entrance hall, the steps down lead to a wonderful, well equipped, country style kitchen and dining room. There is a table large enough to comfortably seat 8, but you will most likely prefer to dine outside in the cobbled courtyard furnished with a dining table under a large parasol.
A few more steps take you down to the gardens, swimming pool (7 m x 4 m) and sun terrace. Here you will find more places to relax – to lounge with a book or just sit and daydream in the wonderful peace around.
The Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche is a secret corner of Andalucia, green and undisturbed. It’s an oasis of calm and natural beauty waiting to be discovered.

More about this region
Sierra de Aracena
The Natural Park of Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche is in the most westerly part of Andalucía, in the province of Huelva. Here the landscape is of green woodlands, mountain streams and pretty white villages. Sevilla is little more than an hour's drive away so it's surprising that this region is almost unheard of outside Andalucía. With surprises at every turn—Templar castles, caves, fiestas and gastronomical delights—this corner of Andalucía is uniquely beautiful and wholly original.
