This authentic two-storey village house is situated in the town of Rute. The historical heritage, gastronomy and natural surroundings (Sierras Subbéticas Geopark) make Rute an ideal, though little known, destination. Almost equidistant from four Andalucian capitals: Cordoba, Jaen, Granada and Malaga, this is a perfect base for touring southern Spain.

The house is attractively simple and modern in style, just right for a holiday home. It has kept all its original charm—thick whitewashed walls and beamed ceilings—while being renovated and furnished to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. One enters directly from the street into a pleasant sitting/dining room, with sofa and armchairs, a small TV, a ceiling fan to keep you cool in the summer and a wood burning stove for the colder months. The weather here can be quite extreme—July and August are very hot (30°C plus) and you will appreciate the thick walls, the ceiling fans and the air conditioning in the bedroom. In winter (December to March) you may have wonderful blue skies but temperatures can drop below zero at night and you will appreciate the heating and cosy wood burner. But the best time to be here is the spring and autumn, it’s ideal walking weather with long, sunny days and lovely temperatures it’s an ideal time to explore all the historic sites on your doorstep.

From the living room, a short passage leads to the kitchen where you will find all you need to prepare a delicious meal for two … but if you don’t feel like cooking there are plenty of bars and restaurants just around the corner.

Upstairs is a spacious double bedroom, complete with an air conditioning unit and ceiling fan for the hotter months, a large en suite bathroom with a bath and a walk-in shower. There is also a cleverly designed study area on the landing.

The interiors are neat and welcoming, but for most of the year life will naturally gravitate to the lovely outdoor terraces. Reached from the kitchen, past the laundry room/WC, the terraces are on various levels. The first level is a few steps up to a partly shaded dining area, delightful for any meal of the day. A few more steps take you up to the enchanting sun terrace with a small but inviting plunge pool, measuring 2m by 2m. The pool is just the thing for a refreshing dip after a morning out exploring. The terrace comes with sun loungers for an afternoon siesta and more table seating just to make sure that your drinks and snacks can be close to hand. Despite being in the town, the terraces are totally private and secluded—the perfect spot to chill out and relax any time, day or night.

The plunge pool is unheated and, depending on the weather, will be open from May until mid-October.

Rentals on this property are not limited to Saturday changeovers, they can start and finish on any day of the week. Minimum stay 4 nights. Long term rental is possible.
