The location of this villa is oh so quiet ... other houses are on hilltops in the distance.

This house is 6 kms from Colmenar of which the last kilometre is a well maintained track. It has approximately seven hectares of its own private countryside. The land slopes up and behind the house, with beautiful views all around.

You can either enter the house directly as the front door opens into the dining room or through another external door into the pretty Mediterranean garden and pool terrace area.

Leading off from the dining room is the living room. Traditional whitewashed walls and tapestry hangings make it all very cosy and snug. For entertainment there is a large, flatscreen TV with English channels, books and magazines to read. At the far end of the living room is the door to the outdoor porch seating area.

There are two bathrooms in this house – one on the pool terrace and one on the ground floor. The bathroom on the ground floor has a corner bath with shower attachment, as well as a walk-in shower, basin and wc.

It's all about the pool!

While you relax in the sun, listen to the sound of splashing water from the impressive infinity swimming pool.

The main feature in this house is its beautiful infinity swimming pool which is a good sized 8 x 5 m and 1.4 – 1.8 m deep. The water splashes over the edge into a trough below.

Although there is an outside shower, there is also a proper bathroom on the pool terrace. This bathroom features a walk-in shower with wc and handbasin.

There is also has a covered chill-out area with comfy cushions. With this superb pool and its flower-filled garden, the whole zone has been designed for maximum peace and relaxation.

Below the pool terrace is a little orchard with a plum, lemon and fig tree – guests are welcome to pick fruit when it´s in season.

The original bread oven still works if you have a mind to have a go at some old-fashioned baking. The washing machine is housed in another original feature (the goat corral) at the side of the house. Here you’ll also find extra sunbeds and a good selection of beach toys and pool inflatables.

Upstairs to bed

The house is on two levels with the three bedrooms (one double and two twins) all on the first floor.

The bedrooms are all on the first floor. The rooms are accessed by stairs which were part of the converted cottage, so the floor, where it is original, is a little uneven in places.

The double bedroom is a spacious room with a low level kingsize bed and whitewashed walls, attractive in its rustic simplicity. This room has the benefit of underfloor heating.

The second room is a twin bedded room, and like the other bedrooms, has whitewashed walls and an exposed beam ceiling in the cottage style.

The third bedroom is also a twin. In our opinion, the layout is a little tight to get into past the first bed, but the arrangement would be quite adequate for children or young adults.

Back to the ground floor—the kitchen leads off from the dining room and out to the covered dining terrace. The stylish country kitchen has all the modern facilities you’d expect: gas cooker and oven, fridge freezer, dishwasher etc.

A wide variety of attractions are within easy reach

Malaga international airport is only 40 minutes’ drive away— a real plus point when travelling with a family.

The kitchen opens directly to the covered dining terrace which is a beautiful place to eat al fresco at any time of day. The dining table seats six very comfortably and is close to the brick barbecue with its food prep facilities.

A word about the heating/cooling arrangements: there are two wood burning stoves, one in the living room, the other in the dining room. Underfloor heating is in the kitchen and one upstairs bedroom. The twin bedrooms have wall mounted electric radiators. For summer, fans are provided in every room.

The owners provide a house book with lots of useful and interesting information about the many attractions in this area.

The nearest town is Colmenar, an attractive market town. It is a convenient stop for shopping, banks and restaurants.

The historical city of Antequera is half an hour away, as is the spectacular El Torcal natural wonder. Velez-Malaga is 40 minutes’ drive and has a water park (open in the summer). For hiking, the Montes de Malaga Natural Park is only 3 kms away.

 Property Information

Bookings at this property run from Saturday to Saturday departure at 10 am, arrival at 4 pm. Although there is no meet and greet, instructions for collecting the key will be given well in advance of arrival.

As the swimming pool is unheated the swimming season usually runs from May to September.

Pets may be accepted, please ask.

Please, no smoking in the house.

Bedlinen and towels are changed weekly.

The pool is cleaned once a week.

A caretaker is available locally if assistance with the property is needed.

The region east of Málaga is La Axarquía. It is often overlooked as a holiday location, but it is full of authentic little villages, mountain trails, rolling hills of olive trees and 30 kilometres of clean beaches. Inland, the pace of life is unhurried and traditional, while the coast is fun but less touristy than west of Málaga. The variety of countryside on offer, in a relatively small area, means that you can ‘get away from it all’ in a landscape that suits you best.
