Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to know before booking?

There are always lots of questions before you head off on your holiday. We’ve tried our best to cover some of the most important ones in our frequently asked questions page so that you have a good idea about what to expect. But if you can’t find the information that you are looking for in the guide below, no problem – just give us a call and we’ll try to answer any questions immediately. Alternatively, you can contact us via email or via the contact form and we will get back to you as quickly as we can.

Our villas are located all around Andalucia. Each villa has been personally visited by us to make sure they come up to the high standard we want to give you. To find the most suitable property for your needs, you can choose by area, travel dates, number of bedrooms or number in your party, by using our filters.

Unfortunately there are times in the year when our weather is unpredictable! We would love to know in advance what is happening but as that is not possible, please have a look at the following guidance:

Spring is a beautiful and quiet time of the year to visit Andalucia. By late Spring the days are usually warm but the nights can still be cool. The countryside looks at its best, green and colourful. As it is a quieter time of year to travel, you will probably get a more genuine experience of what life in Andalucia is all about.
Early Summer is usually beautiful, long days and good temperatures, July and August bring the warmest weather. The average temperature depends on where you choose to go. On the coastline and higher mountains the breeze keeps temperatures bearable. But if you decide to go inland, it can be very hot. Sevilla is the hottest city in Europe with Cordoba and Granada not so far behind. They are exciting and beautiful places to visit but it is always pleasing to come back to the cooler countryside.

This is the most popular time of the year for local fiestas. These are events of rejoicing and celebration, an authentic experience of local life. But please note that they can be very noisy, the music and merriment can go on through the night, so if you have booked with us in/close to a village and you are looking for peace, please check with us beforehand about the fiesta dates.

A holiday in Autumn is very special. It is usually still sunny and warm during the day, being a pleasant continuation of Summer, but you will enjoy the red, orange and yellow trees. The skies are a clearer blue than in summer and by this time, the grapes and almonds are ready to be harvested. Along with spring months, Autumn is an ideal time for walking and horse riding.
For those who are looking for an authentic experience of rural life, winter is the best time of all. You can get exceptionally dry and sunny days or snow falling on the high mountains. The sunsets are spectacular. A log fire is a must, so make sure the property you have chosen is properly equipped for winter living.

Prices given are for the entire property. In some cases there may be a reduced price for fewer guests These prices are normally based on the number of bedrooms used. The unused ones will be closed.

Prices are in euros, Andalucian Sky is a Spanish holiday company and makes all charges at the euro prices advertised. Your bank will convert the euro amount into your local currency when you pay by card. Andalucian Sky does not charge any currency conversion fees. Our prices also include VAT (the Spanish equivalent is called IVA). If there are any additional costs, for example pool heating or firewood, these are clearly noted on the individual property page.

Most of the rentals run from Saturday to Saturday, especially during the summer seasons. There are a few exceptions, some with a Friday or Sunday changeover day. Property owners are usually more flexible in mid and low season so please ask us if you wish to start and finish your booking on a different day.

Normally, bookings in our holiday homes are for one, or more, full weeks but in low and mid season it may be possible to book a minimum of four nights but we will need to agree this with the property owner.

This is explained on our ‘How to book page’.

Andalucian Sky is a company specialising in holiday rental properties. It is easier and most likely cheaper for you to arrange your flights and car hire directly with the supplier. We can usually help you to arrange airport transfers, but please ask us well in advance.

We firmly recommend that all members of your holiday party are covered by suitable travel insurance. As well as the personal protection it provides, your insurance should also cover monies paid to us in the event of you having to cancel your holiday due to ill health or other circumstances.

In the event that there is an unresolvable problem with the property that you have booked, Andalucian Sky will make every endeavour to find you alternative accommodation of equal value or will refund the full amount paid for the accommodation. You will need to ensure that your travel insurance covers any or all other associated costs over and above the booked accommodation.

Your accommodation booking with us does not include travel insurance.

Two weeks before your holiday we will send you detailed directions of how to get to your villa from your arrival airport. At the same time, you will also be sent the contact details of the house-manager/owner of the property. We will need a mobile phone number from you to give to the person who is meeting you. If for any reason you are unable to contact the person who will be meeting you, please phone Andalucian Sky on the emergency number that we’ll give you in the directions email.

To allow time for cleaning the property will not, generally, be ready for you before 5 pm. The latest reasonable time to arrive is 10.00 pm unless special arrangements have been made beforehand. This later arrival may incur an extra charge.

If you are arriving earlier, it may sometimes be possible for you to drop off your luggage whilst the cleaning is being finished.

The time of departure is the same for every house: 10.00 am at the latest. If the property is not booked immediately before or after your stay, the time of arrival/departure can be flexible.

Many of the properties we offer are located in rural Andalucia and as such many of the houses have tracks that lead off the tarmac road to the property. Most of these tracks are well maintained but some can occasionally be affected by recent heavy rain. Sometimes they can be steep and occasionally there will be no barrier at the edge. If this is a concern for you, please ask us for more details. If a 4×4 vehicle is required, it will be stated in the description of the property.

Parking is not usually a problem in the countryside or smaller villages. If the property you have booked is located in a small village, you can either park in a car park or just in the street, subject to availability. Parking is normally free of charge in most villages.

Our properties located in open countryside generally have somewhere you can park, either alongside the house or nearby.

In the cities, parking is more problematic, although there are usually attended underground car parks.

We strongly recommend you do not to leave anything valuable or on display in the car.

The maximum capacity is stated in the description and it is a condition of booking that must be respected. Some properties have different prices depending on the number of people and number of bedrooms used so if you would like to increase your party size, it may affect the price for the property and an additional charge may be due.

The facilities available in each property are detailed in the individual villa description. Here are some general ones:

Gas, electricity and water. A sensible use of gas, electricity and water are usually included in the rental price. Only a few properties may charge electricity separately, in these cases, it is clearly stated in the description.

When the properties offer air conditioning, heating or pool heating, there will probably be an extra charge. This is specified on each property page.

Please see further details below:

Bed linen and towels

Bed linen and towels are provided. If pool or beach towels are not supplied, it is specified on the property page. If this is the case, you will need to bring your own.

Cots and high chairs can be provided in almost all the properties, normally free of charge. Cot linen is usually not supplied.

Televisions

Most of the properties have at least one television. Unless we say otherwise, the channels available will be in Spanish although the digitalized TV service may permit you to change the language on some films and programmes to English. If cable or satellite TV is provided, some channels will be in English and some other languages.

Internet/Wifi

Most of the properties provide internet. Please note that as many properties are in rural locations, we cannot assure the speed of the connection.

Only a few properties, due to their location, cannot offer this service. If you choose one of these properties, please feel free to ask us and we will let you know the closest public place where you can get connected.

Firewood

This is not usually included in the rental price. The house-manager will advise you where you can purchase it.

Barbecues

Most of the properties have a barbecue but please note that during summer months (from May to September) barbecues are forbidden by law due to high fire risk. Some properties provide gas barbecues/electric plates instead.

In rural parts of Andalucia, there is no rubbish collection service. The refuse should be deposited by you in the indicated areas for this purpose. These areas can either be near the property or in the local village. Please check this point with the house-manager of the property. Rubbish must not be left behind on departure, this may incur an extra charge.

Our properties require a security deposit. The amount is clearly shown on the relevant property description. By confirming a booking you authorize us to charge your credit card up to the amount of the security deposit for any breakage or damages caused. For some properties the security deposit is paid in cash on arrival and refunded at the end of your holiday, provided there is no damage or outstanding payments.

Pets are generally not permitted but please check with us. Some properties do accept pets, on request only and always subject to prior agreement. This may incur an extra cleaning charge.

As most of our properties are in rural settings if you have any allergies, or phobias, you should be sure to check with us before booking.

Andalucia, fortunately, still has many working farm and these are often home to a donkey(s), goats, dogs, cats, chickens and all the relating sounds. If you are concerned about animal noises please do check with us before booking and we will be able to give you a clear idea of what to expect.
